Golden Temple

Golden temple Amritsar is the most revered shrine of Sikhs. This is located in Amritsar. The temple has a gold roof and looks amazing. The construction of the temple was started by Guru Ram Das and the temple was covered with gold by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The Golden temple of Amritsar forms an important pilgrim center not only for the followers of the Sikh faith but also for the people of all the faiths. This temple is among the most visited shrines of the world.

The foundation stone of Harmandir Sahib was laid by the Muslim saint. The Golden temple Amritsar is among the seven wonders of India. One has to follow some discipline in the temple premises. It is advised to wear the head scarf inside the premises and this is also a sign of respect. One cannot wear shoes in the premises and should exempt from drinking alcohol, eating meat, cigarette etc inside shrine.
